Classic Black Spinel Minimalist Solitaire Engagement Ring in Sterling Silver
This timeless Black Spinel 6 Prong Solitaire Sterling Silver features a 6 mm (approximately 1 carat) sparkling laboratory-grown Black Spinel securely held in a six-prong mounting. This style of engagement ring has been a favorite since its introduction in 1886. This ring features delicate shoulder detailing, and tapers gracefully to a 1 mm wide band.
It is believed by some that Black Spinel can repel negativity and restore grounding...sounds like a handy stone to have around! Although this ring isn't wide enough for our inside ring engraving, it pairs well with many of the other bands we offer!
When I began working my first job in the jewelry trade, I was puzzled to learn that the typical four-prong solitaire mounting that I had grown up seeing was actually considered one of the least secure ring mountings. The jeweler would often shake his head over the number of these broken mountings that found their way across his bench.
The reasoning was simple. With a four-prong mounting, if one of the prongs becomes damaged there is a fairly good chance that the stone may be lost. However, with a six-prong mounting, a broken prong isn't the end of the story - there are five other prongs that hold the stone safe.
