Vintage-style Lavender Moon Quartz Sterling Silver Solitaire Promise Ring
This timeless Lavender Moon Quartz Vintage-style Classic Solitaire in Sterling Silver features a 6 mm (approximately 1 carat) sparkling gemstone securely held in a six-prong mounting. This has been the archetypical engagement ring style since its introduction in 1886. This ring features delicate shoulder detailing, and tapers gracefully to a 1 mm wide band. Although this ring isn't wide enough for our inside ring engraving, it pairs well with many of the other bands we offer!
Lavender Quartz somehow manages to be both elegant and dreamy. Lavender Quartz comes from the Boquira Mine in the municipality (municÃpio) of Oliveira dos Brejinhos in the northern Brazilian state of Bahia. The Borquria Mine opened in 1956 and is currently no longer producing, so this beautiful stone will become increasingly rare as the supplies available are purchased.
When I first began working at the jewelry store that was my first job, I was puzzled to learn that the typical four-prong solitaire mounting that I had grown up seeing was actually considered one of the least secure ring mountings. The jeweler would often shake his head over the number of these broken mountings that found their way across his bench. The reasoning was simple. With a four-prong mounting, if one of the prongs becomes damaged there is a fairly good chance that the stone may be lost. However, with a six-prong mounting, losing or damaging a prong will not lead to loss and sorrow - there are five other prongs that hold the stone safe.
