Sterling Silver Sapphire Engagement Ring - Wide Scroll Wedding Ring
This Sapphire Promise Ring with Wide Scroll Pattern Band in Sterling Silver has an Scroll and Starburst pattern band and a beautiful 8 x 6 mm cabochon gemstone set in a brightly polished fine silver bezel. Our setting process involves carefully tightening the fine silver bezel down around the stone, then beveling at the edge of the bezel to further compress the silver, creating a water-tight seal with no stone movement. The bezel-set ring shown in this picture features a lovely smooth-cut laboratory grown Blue Sapphire cabochon, but we create this ring with a wide selection of stone choices.
The stone in this ring measures 8 x 6 mm and is set in a striking Wide Scroll and Starburst Flower Wedding Band in Sterling Silver that measures 6 mm wide (approximately .25 inches). The twining flower and gentle swirl motif of this pattern are carefully finished at the band join to make a seamless continuation around the entire band. This band was created from sterling silver that was embossed with a rolling mill and has been carefully curved and smoothed for comfortable wear. This band is wide enough for our personalized ring engraving, available here.
Scroll decoration has a very long history, and such patterns were an essential element of classical and medieval decoration. The use of scrolls in ornament goes back to at least the Bronze Age; geometric scroll ornament has been found in the Palace of Knossos at Minoan Crete dating to approximately 1800 BC, perhaps drawing from even earlier Egyptian and Mesopotamian styles.
