This timeless Anastasia Topaz Solitaire Engagement Ring Sterling Silver features a 6 mm (approximately 1 carat) sparkling Anastasia Topaz, securely held in a six-prong mounting. This has been the archetypical engagement ring style since its introduction in 1886. This ring features delicate shoulder detailing, and tapers gracefully to a 1 mm wide band. Although this ring isn't wide enough for our inside ring engraving, it pairs well with many of the other bands we offer!
Anastasia topaz is a beautiful stone that shows shades of orange, champagne, warm brown, and rose - the pictures simply do not do it justice! These man-made topazes are created by chemically bonding metallic elements to the bottom surface of a natural white topaz. When treated gently, they look amazing for years without any loss of color or fear of scratching.
When I first began working at the jewelry store that was my first job, I was puzzled to learn that the typical four-prong solitaire mounting that I had grown up seeing was actually considered one of the least secure ring mountings. The jeweler would often shake his head over the number of these broken mountings that found their way across his bench.
The reasoning was simple. With a four-prong mounting, if one of the prongs becomes damaged there is a fairly good chance that the stone may be lost. However, with a six-prong mounting, losing or damaging a prong will not lead to loss and sorrow - there are five other prongs that hold the stone safe.
